gentle wash, cold water.
beanies handle a wash better than caps, but they still need care. cold water, mild detergent, and a gentle cycle.

what to do.
turn it inside out. cold wash on a delicate setting (or hand wash if you're being careful). press out the water. reshape and air dry flat on a towel.

what not to do.
no hot water. no tumble dry. no iron on direct heat. no bleach. no hanging it wet (it'll stretch).

if it pills.
that's normal for knit fabrics. use a fabric shaver or pumice stone, gently. it'll look new again.

storage.
fold it loosely or roll it. don't hang it from a hook by the brim, that stretches the shape over time.

bonus tip.
if it smells but isn't dirty, air it out for a day. saves you a wash and keeps the fabric better.
